Athanasia Karagiannopoulou

Athanasia Karagiannopoulou was born in Athens. She studied Law at the University of Athens and Drama at the Karolos Koun Drama School. With a scholarship from the National Scholarship Foundation (I.K.Y) she continued her graduate studies in England (University of London, Royal Holloway) and Italy (Universita di Bologna, DAMS) with a major in Directing and Theatrology Drama.

As an actress, she has participated in many productions of the Art Theater under the direction of G.Lazanis and M. Kougioumtzis,has worked with the National Theater of Northern Greece and E. Gabrielidis, and has taken part in the Bienalle 2000(Torino) with the High Risk Group and G. Kontrafouris.

She has directed many well-known plays and has worked with some of Greece’s most prominent stage actors. Athanasia has also directed F. Tsalahouri's opera Pouskin, The Final Moments, for which she also wrote the libretto.

She is also responsible for the musical research and directing in her plays.
