Isidoros Sideris
Born in Athens 1975. He took his first cello lessons by the age of ten by Nikos Kotzias and continued his studies at the Athens Conservatory with Eleftherios Papastavrou and Byron Fidetzis (1998 Cello Diploma with highest degree and First Prize).
He studied also at the Musikhochschule Detmold abt. Dortmund (1998-2001 Künstlerische Ausbildung) with Prof. Gotthard Popp.
He took Master classes among others by David Geringas, Steven Isserlis, Wolfgang Boettcher, Maria Kliegel, Marcio Carneiro and Truls Svane, and participated at the International Ensemble Modern Academy.
Appeared as soloist with the Athens State Orchestra, in festivals and chamber music concerts in Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, USA and Greece.
Lives in Athens, he is a member of the Athens String Quartet and of the Athens State Orchestra (KOA) since 2001.
His recent cd, featuring late romantic violinconcertos by Johan Svendsen and P.E. Lange-Müller, received praise
in The Strad Magazine for "Bjørnkjær's glorious singing tone" and "highly eloquent phrasing". "This violinist devoted
vehemence almost convinces us that it is a lost masterpiece" ( Svendsen)
Lars Bjørnkjær plays the 1714 Stradivarius "Yoldi-Moldenhauer". He was knighted by Queen Margrit in 1998.
