Marko Ylönen, cello (Finland)
Marko Ylönen has performed as soloist and chamber musician with such leading orchestras as the Camerata Salzburg, the English Chamber Orchestra, the Prague Chamber Orchestra and the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra. He is engaged as lecturer of cello and chamber music at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki while he has premiered several works by Finnish composers.
Ars longa, vita brevis
In August 2014 the ICMFC celebrated its 10th anniversary and the 150 years from the inauguration of Apollo Theatre of Hermoupolis, with a saying by Hippocrates of Cos (460 – c. 370 BC), an ancient Greekphysician of the Age of Pericles (Classical Greece), "Ars longa, vita brevis", an expression that perfectly describes what has been achieved in the festival's first decade.
