Vassiliki Karayanni

Soprano Vassiliki Karayanni was born in Patras (Greece).She has a certificate diploma in solo singing with grade A and first prize(1994) .Her guiding teacher is Ms Barbara Gavakou (student of J. Metternich) .She has distinctions in National Competitions, in Greece :first prize in the Akkordion (1984) ,First prize in solo singing (1988,1997), the special prize Inga Lingabue at the International Competition Gianfranco Massini in Italy (2001).

She has taken part in concerts in many towns and festivals in Greece with arias of operas and also as a soloist in "Requiem" of Mozart and of Faure, in "Fantasia" of Beethoven, in "Stabat Mater" and "Salve Regina" of Pergolesi, in "Gloria of Vivaldi, Bach’s Cantatas, in “Carmina Burana” of Carl Orff, in Concert arias of Mozart ,etc.

Her debut on stage was made at the International Festival of Corfu in1994, singing in the role of “Nina” in Opera “La Martire” of Spyros Samaras.

She has collaborated with National Opera of Greece (Athens) in a big number of roles : Queen of the Night (Magic Flute), Olympia(The tales of Hoffmann), Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos), Blonde (Die Entfurung aus dem Serail), Norina (Don Pasquale), Gilda (Rigoletto),Violetta (Traviata), Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Carolina (Matrimonio segreto), Despina (Cosi fan tutte), Gismonda (Il marito disperato), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Gretel (Hansel und Gretel),Amor (Orfeo e Euridice of Gluck) ,Mme Herz (Der Schauspieldirector of Mozart),Comtesse Adele(Comte Ory),Charmeuse(Thais), Elvira (Italiana in Algeri),Rosina(Il Barbiere di Siviglia of Paizielo),etc.

Besides, she has collaborated with major opera houses of Europe: Teatro San Carlo of Naples (Gismonda ,”Il Marito disperato of Cimarosa) , Teatro Communale of Florence (“La serva padrona”,Pergolesi), Teatro San Carlo of Lisbon (Zerbinetta, “Ariadne auf Naxos”),Opera of Dusseldorf (Gilda,”Rigoletto”of Verdi),Thesaloniki' Megaron (Gilda,Blonde), Athens Megaron (Queen of the night) ,etc.

In 2004, Vassiliki Karayanni made her debut appearance in Royal Opera House (Covent Garden) of London with the role of Olympia(The tales of Hoffmann)and she sang again in the same production on Dec 2008. Also in 2004, she made her debut in Komische Oper Berlin with the role of Queen of the Night (The magic Flute). She has also appeared to a concert performance in Queen Elisabeth Hall in London (2003), concert performance in “Dal Verme” Concert Hall of “Teatro alla Scala” in Milano (June 2005) and also concert in “Cadogan Hall” in London(October 2006).

In 2001, she took the Special Prize from the Greek Union of Musician and Theatrical Critics about her interpretation on the role of Zerbinetta in the production in the production of “Ariadne auf Naxos” (National Opera House of Greece).
